1- Sketch the chain structures of a monosaccharide that is an aldehyde and of a monosaccharide that is a ketone. Do these sugars actually exist in straight chain form in the aqueous solutions of the body?
2- Sketch the straight chain structures of the following monosaccharides:
a- glucose b- ribose c- ribulose d- galactose
3- What is a disaccharide? What monosaccharide units make up sucrose? What is the bond called that forms between disaccharides and what is a biproduct of this bond?
